Om Mani Padme Hum is probably the most famous mantra in Buddhism, the six syllabled mantras of the bodhisattva of compassion, Avalokiteshvara (Tibetan Chenrezig, Chinese Guanyin). The Dalai Lama is said to be an incarnation of Chenrezig or Avalokiteshvara, so the mantra is especially revered by his devotees and it is commonly carved onto rocks and written on paper which is then inserted into prayer wheels to increase its effects.

Dorje, also known as Vajra in Sanskrit, is a sacred Tibetan symbol of cosmic energy that represents the ‘thunderbolt of enlightenment. The Double Dorje symbol, also known as Vishvavajra, comprises two Dorjes mounted together to form a cross. The resultant four heads of the cross represent the four Dhyani-Buddhas of the four directions. This symbol is often used as a stamp or a seal, placed on the bottom of statues and as pendants, to signify the indestructibility of knowledge, empower inner strength, and ward of evil spirits.
