Description
This is an exquisitely beautiful statue of the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion Kuan Yin standing on a lotus pedestal with long golden robes swaying in soft, graceful folds. Depicted with her characteristic calm, serene and delicate expression, she holds a jade-colored Ru Yi in her left hand and the Pearl of Illumination in her right hand.
Kuan Yin (Kwan Yin or Quan Yin) is one of the most universally beloved deities in the Buddhist tradition. Known by different names in different lands, such as Avalokiteshvara in the ancient Sanskrit language of India, Chenrezig in Tibet, and Kannon in Japan, Kuan Yin is the embodiment of compassionate loving kindness. As the Bodhisattva of Compassion, she hears the cries of all beings. According to legend, Kwan Yin vowed to remain in the earthly realm and not enter the heavenly world until all living things had become enlightened and liberated from the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. To symbolize this she is often pictured carrying the Pearl of Illumination.
Whilst the Ru Yi is one of the most powerful emblems of power, leadership, and authority used by high-ranking officials of Imperial China in ancient times, it is also a wish-fulfilling symbol by virtue of its name which means “as you wish” in Chinese. Thus the Kuan Yin with Ru Yi not only brings blessings of peace and happiness but helps you achieve your goals in life.
Many consider it to be good luck to have a picture or figurine of Kwan Yin in one’s house as she cleanses the home of negative influences and offers protection. Place this Kuan Yin facing the main entrance of your home to bless you and your family with peace, protection, happiness, and abundance.
