Description
This lovely incense burner is made of Purple clay or Zisha, a fine-textured and porous material found only in Yixing, China, giving rise to it being also known as Yixing clay. It is shaped into a Tibetan Bell with images of the Buddha sitting in a meditative pose and has a Dorje-like handle on top.
The incense burner is used to burn incense, a ritual that has been practiced throughout history as one of the most popular methods to symbolically bless, clean, enhance and purify the atmosphere or Chi in a living or workspace. The aromatic smoke of the incense will enliven stale energy, create a sense of tranquility and produce Seng Chi, the intrinsic energy which brings good fortune. This burner can be used to hold both cones and standard incense sticks.
Tibetan Bells are commonly used together with the Dorje in Buddhist rituals to facilitate centering the energy and quieting the mind. The Bell (feminine), held in the left hand is an expression of loving kindness whilst the Dorje (masculine) in the right hand represents wisdom. In Feng Shui, bells are used to remove negative energy to bring harmony, peace, energy, happiness, and prosperity to the home.
