Bed Against Wall in Feng Shui Tips

In feng shui, your bed is the most important piece of furniture in your life. You spend hours in it every day in both conscious and unconscious states, so it is intimately connected to your personal energy. Every element of your bed—the mattress, bedding, headboard, and more—can affect your health and well-being. And one of the simplest ways to bring good feng shui energy to your bed is to place it correctly. A bed with access from only one side is bad feng shui, as it restricts the flow of good energy. Let’s learn about feng shui bed against wall tips!

A Bed With One Side Against a Wall

While you are sleeping, your body is busy using energy to improve itself. But if you place your bed with one side pushed up against a wall, this limits the flow of good energy. In feng shui, if the flow of energy to your bed is interfered with, it ultimately restricts the energy in your life, and your body cannot receive the help it needs.

Also, if you are in an intimate love relationship, having a bed with access from only one side can limit the open communication flow between partners and create an imbalance in the relationship. It also restricts space for a future partner if you are looking for a relationship.

On the other hand, one caveat to note is it’s acceptable to place a child’s bed with one side against the wall. Doing so can provide them with some supportive energy in their life.

Feng Shui Remedies

Even if you have a limited amount of space, you should still position the bed, so it has breathing room for good feng shui energy flow on both sides. If possible, maintain at least 18 inches on each side of the bed. But if you can’t do that, it’s still ideal to have the same amount of space on each side, no matter how narrow it is.

Nightstands also help to bring balance to each side of the bed. They don’t have to be identical, but they should complement each other in size and style. If you don’t have space for two typical nightstands, get creative by improvising a similar “nightstand” energy. For instance, use two small plant stands as night tables (and even place a candle or two on each), or create two neat stacks of books on each side of the bed.

If there really isn’t room to have equal space on both sides of the bed, another option is to hang a mirror on the wall the bed is against. This helps to expand the space and balance its energy visually. However, according to feng shui principles, you have to be careful about mirrors facing a bed. A mirror that directly reflects the bed can deplete your personal energy and bring a third party into your intimate relationship. Some options to remedy this include hanging a small mirror at an angle that cannot reflect the bed or treating the mirror-like a window and covering it at bedtime with curtains.
