Feng Shui Bedroom Art
Feng shui, the ancient art of placement, looks at ways to decorate your home to promote good energy and harmonious life. In feng shui, the bedroom is considered the most important room in the house. Key to good feng shui in your bedroom would include where you place your bed, the door’s location, the colors you use, items in the room, and the items you display. Feng Shui bedroom art is no exception. It is believed that any art object or decor item in your bedroom is very important, as the energy of your bedroom is directly related to your state of health, your relationships, and your general well-being.
The Imagery
In your bedroom, you should feature pieces of art that truly speak to you. If you love a work of art or if it moves your heart to see an image, then incorporate it into your feng shui-suited decor.
Images to include in the bedroom would be pairings of objects, be they people or non-ferocious animals. If the painting or object you select is not a pair, use two of them to symbolize the union between two people. Chinese auspicious items include the mystical knot, birds, red peonies, and the double happiness symbol.
Sad or lonely art images should have no place in your bedroom. In fact, according to feng shui guidelines, those images should not be displayed in your house at all.
You will want to avoid art with violent or aggressive energy and images. Since the bedroom is your main place for relaxation and sensual healing, any items with strong aggressive or violent energy will weaken or completely negate the feng shui energy needed for healing. That is one bad bedroom feng shui no-no.
Avoid Water Features
In feng shui, water features usually aid the flow of energy. However, the bedroom is one place where you should avoid it. Do not display a water feature, imagery of water in artwork, mirrors, or even a predominantly blue color scheme that alludes to water. Water cools the fire, which can douse the passion you likely hope to find in a bedroom.
This does not mean that you need to have a complete avoidance of the color blue in your decor scheme or not have mirrors in your bedroom. Feng shui is all about balance. If you can decorate the room predominantly following feng shui guidelines, you can afford to add a mirror or a splash of aqua or indigo.
Understand Your Bagua
Before you start decorating your home, it can help you understand the Bagua or the feng shui energy map of your home. If you have an energy map, you will be able to create vibrant and harmonious energy, not only in your bedroom but throughout the whole house. An energy map will give you basic guidelines for which colors and shapes to emphasize in your feng shui bedroom art and decor, which ones to avoid.
A Bagua can also tell you about the specific life energy found in your feng shui bedroom area. For example, you might have a bedroom situated in the “creativity” area of the Bagua or a bedroom in the “love and marriage” area. You can augment your room decor if you wish to welcome love and marriage to a bedroom that does not have that in its Bagua.
