Using Calcite in Feng Shui

Known as the stone of emotional intelligence, calcite has the uncanny ability to build a clear and harmonious bridge of awareness between your emotions and your intellect. Calcite reportedly brings wise energy to help one make timely decisions without the feeling of being rushed. It also helps cultivate equal attention to one’s emotional and mental being. Only by being in this balanced state, one can live a happy, fulfilling, and meaningful life.

The name calcite comes from the Latin calyx, which means lime. It’s also known as Iceland spar and optical calcite. The most abundant supplies of calcite come from Mexico, the United States, Iceland, and England.

The most popular type of calcite is the clear, or colourless, variety. Although other colours of calcite are also popular, including green, pink, orange, yellow, brown, blue, and even black calcite. Each colour adds additional properties to the energy of calcite.

Calcite’s Energy

By its mere presence, calcite brings a constant energetic movement. It might speed up your personal energy by helping reveal and uncover aspects of your personality or health that need attention or speed up, clearing the energy in any given space. Thus, calcite is much welcomed in any environment with stagnant, stale, or vibrationally polluted energy.

Feng Shui Properties of Calcite

The main feng shui use of calcite is for its energy-clearing and transformation properties. Where the energy is stagnant, calcite will help activate and circulate it, and where the energy has become polluted from too much traffic, a variety of negative emotions or just chaotic vibrations, calcite will help realign and clear the energy.

Some of the most popular properties of calcite are:

  • Helps with emotional healing
  • Improves memory
  • Releases blockages
  • Encourages creative expression
  • Removes negativity
  • Deepens one’s spiritual awareness

As such, calcite stone, especially a clear one, is a good feng shui addition to your living room. It can also be excellent in any other space you spend a lot of time with your families, such as your family or dining room. Having a calcite stone in your home office is a good thing too. Especially if your office’s energy (and in your work) has become stale and slow.

Because calcite is considered to encourage learning, help make wise decisions, and strengthen one’s memory, considering adding it to your children’s room or study. It’s also a good stone to have close to you during your spiritual practise time, such as when doing yoga, tai chi, qigong, or meditating, because it encourages an opening to higher realms of consciousness. Thus, it can be an excellent stone for your home altar.

Where to Place Calcite Based on Color

In the best feng shui placement of calcite stone, be guided by its colour.

  • Green calcite is excellent feng shui for your East and Southeast areas.
  • A golden/yellow calcite is excellent in your Southwest, as well as your South Bagua areas.
  • The pink, orange, and red calcite are good in a Fire feng shui element area but choose smaller size calcites rather than one big stone because you do not want the calcite’s Earth element to weaken the Fire element.
  • Small black and blue calcites are excellent in the North, East, and Southeast areas of your home.

It’s best not to place a calcite stone in the centre of the home for too long unless the heart of your home needs a lot of movement and clearing for some time. Additionally, avoid calcite placement¬†near or on the stairs, especially if your staircase is located in a challenging feng shui area of your home.
